At work this last Friday we started talking about organic milk. Or actually we started talking about the greatness of Braum’s, but that is for another day. If your a regular Starbuck’s attendee I’m sure you’ve seen their little cartons of it for sale right under the baked goods. Organic milk is pretty tasty. On a scale of humane liquids to drown a fly in it ranks a high 9. While we discussed why pros of organic milk, because of cow overmilking and the blind eye we have turned to hazards of the hardened teet. We stumbled upon a conversation I have had before. What will you feed your kids?
An odd question I agree but it is something to think about. Studies are beginning to show girls are maturing faster, And I’m not talking about their math skills. I’m sure you’ve noticed girls modeling themselves after the latest ho bag walking the glittering pile of crap that is MTV reality, but are they solely to blame? Studies are starting to surface about the excessive amounts of hormones we are putting into our chickens and cows are starting to carry over into our systems. It really isn’t that foreign an idea, we talk about it a lot when we talk about fish (You should watch more Bill Nye). bigger animals eat smaller animals with the bad stuff and slowly that bad stuff builds up in the big animals until everybody has toxic levels of the bad stuff in them. Now these aren’t toxins they are hormones, stuff our body produces naturally. So think of this as unwanted hormone therapy.
We are constantly trying to breed and feed our chickens and cows in a way that produces the most product. What better way to do that than with hormones right? I’m sure this is one of the fastest, easiest ways to do it but most likely not the best. I really have no alternative ways to fix this other than ways similar to pollinating plants, selective breeding, like the Arian race of livestock.
At the risk of being a hippie I’m going to say we should probably try and fix this and to do my part I’m going to try and buy organic milk and chicken from now on. Also if and when I have kids I’m going to try and feed them organic chicken and dairy. Its a bold choice and feel there are some possible repercussions. My daughters not developing as quickly as the other girls could be turned down by boys and become a social outcasts or become extremely sluty to gain the affection of boys. My sons on the other hand might not be as chubby as the other boys and not be forced to develop a personality becoming the universe’s second largest douche bag behind John Edward. All this is assuming I’m a horrible father and leave my children to play with a bucket of paint chips, a copy of high school musical and a Christina Aguilera album.
Well I know these are things I’m sure most don’t think about unless they have children, but why not look to the future. Sure, who knows if I’ll have children, or adopt a super asian, (regular asians should stay where in the mainland) but it never hurts to dream about those super asians.
